The Artful Blingster

Angie Trkulja is the owner of The Artful Blingster, a small business she established late in 2017 in Burlington, Ontario. Angie has always had an intense interest in all things “art” and has explored many different creative outlets. However, in 2015, she discovered wire wrapped jewellery!

Wire wrapping is the art of forming and weaving wires in patterns or twists either around a bead or stone or even around itself. When a stone or bead is used, the wire wrapping creates a frame to encase the bead or gemstone to protect it and to keep it from falling out. The frame can then be used to fit a chain or rings to create pendants, earrings, bracelets, etc. Wire wrapping piqued Angie’s interest so intensely that she undertook the challenge of learning the craft which has existed for centuries.

So, through books, pdfs, YouTube videos and several workshops both locally and abroad, Angie acquired adequate knowledge to get serious. Armed with that knowledge, her imagination and creativity and oodles of gemstones and beads, the journey began. Her relentless desire to learn has allowed her to incorporate metalsmithing techniques such as soldering, forging, forming, etc. into her work.

Today, Angie is a juried artist whose work is sold through handmade markets and her website. Each piece that is produced is truly a wearable work of art.
